The scheme qualifies for ScreenSkills Make-a-Move funding assuming that the mentee qualifies for the scheme on the relevant production. Should Make-a-Move funding be obtained, Imogen can become the “Mentor” and help complete the training paperwork across the span of the traineeship. Please note the initial application would need to come from the production, but Imogen can assist.
The scheme has two main delivery methods, but can be entirely bespoke. Imogen will work with Mentee and their HOD/Supervisor to create a training plan that best serves the trainee and the production they are working on.
Delivery Methods
1. Module Based Training
This delivery method best suits a trainee that has a good idea of their responsibilities, feels confident in areas such as management, forward planning, forecasting, analysis of the schedule, script and budget (if relevant), but might feel that they have some gaps in the more practical knowledge – the How-to’s. Should this delivery method be chosen, Imogen will work with the HOD/Supervisor to understand the practical tasks that will be required from the mentee, then with the mentee to identify their knowledge gaps. A series of training modules will be designed focusing to address all topics raised.
This form of training will involve:
- Entirely skills based – choosing from a menu of skills training.
- General “best-practice” training will be provided, rather than specific to the production the mentee is working on.
- No prep will be required for any skills on the menu – meaning that only training days will attract a fee.
- Imogen’s own templates and resources can be used to deliver the training so the production will not need to give any access to production documents.
2. Career Progression “Mentor” Programme
This delivery method will suit a trainee that has stepped into the brand new role and might need support understanding more nuanced skills like delegation, management, prioritising and decision-making. This type of mentorship will allow the trainee to identify areas where they feel less confident in consultation with the HOD/Supervisor. It will allow the mentee to develop trouble-shooting and analytical skills as well as practical task-based skills.
This form of training will involve:
- Longer sessions – half day or full day.
- Training based on the real-world work the trainee is completing on the production (Imogen might need access to some production paperwork – happy to sign NDAs).
- Encouraging the trainee to develop their own responses to tasks, production requirements and problems using advice and context provided by Imogen, based on the relevant production policies and manuals.
Imogen will work with the HOD/Supervisor and Mentee to create a training plan using the following training menus as a guide, but bespoke modules can be designed and created with discussion:
